The weather here in Tennessee is about to get active. On friday the 30th, a very large low pressure trough will be moving across the country in the form of a cold front, and that front will be strong enough to produce some severe weather! At this point and time it is now known what kind of storms will form (i.e. supercell, line segment, etc.) but my guess is that it will be a squall line type of storm. Here is the SPC outlook for friday:
...DISCUSSION...
A VERY STRONG SRN STREAM SHORTWAVE TROUGH SHOULD EMERGE WITHIN THE
BASE OF LONGWAVE TROUGH OVER TX...THEN EJECT NEWD ACROSS THE LOWER
MS VALLEY INTO THE CNTRL GULF STATES/TN VALLEY REGION FRIDAY WITH A
VERY FOCUSED ZONE OF INTENSE HEIGHT FALLS. HOWEVER...THIS FEATURE
WILL LIKELY TRAIL THE PRIMARY FRONTAL WIND SHIFT BY SOME DEGREE WITH
THE PRIMARY FRONTAL FORCING EXPECTED TO FOCUS FARTHER NORTH ACROSS
THE OH VALLEY INTO THE GREAT LAKES REGION. PRE-FRONTAL AIRMASS WILL
BE FAIRLY MOIST AT LOW LEVELS...THOUGH POOR LAPSE RATES WILL LIMIT
INSTABILITY. EVEN SO IT APPEARS THUNDERSTORMS WILL DEVELOP IN A
NEAR ENOUGH FRONTAL ENVIRONMENT TO RENDER AT LEAST A THREAT FOR
ORGANIZED SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE MOST BUOYANT REGIONS OF
THE CNTRL GULF STATES AND TN VALLEY REGION.

Our local NWS office as well as the SPC has picked up on this, and there may even be some spotter activation going on friday. Nothing much more can be told until we get closer to the event and thankfully it is on a friday, so I will be able to look at the conditions for myself and bring them to you! Stay tuned for more updates as they come, some people (including myself) are getting pretty excited over this!
